The Right Diet for Overweight Kids
Posted by Chad Pitt
Health is not an option—it is every child’s birthright. With an estimated 17.6 million overweight children under the age of five, the time for change is now! The statistics on the growing trend of obesity are alarming. Research shows that 70 to 80% of obese children will become obese adults. Diseases associated with obesity, such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and cancer, are numerous. Type 2 diabetes, once called adult-onset diabetes, is also on the rise and linked to obesity. Most adolescents diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are obese.
Parents of obese and overweight children often throw up their hands in nutritional confusion, not knowing what to feed their child or how to help. A recent study found that the popular lowfat, calorie-restricted approach is an exercise in futility. A study published in the August edition of Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine found that a reduced glycemic load diet had a greater effect on weight loss and insulin control than the standard reduced-fat diet.
The participants in the study were obese adolescents. Subjects in the reduced glycemic load diet were instructed to eat 45 to 50% of their total daily calories from carbohydrates, 30 to 35% from fat and the remainder from protein sources. Calories were not restricted and the subjects were told to eat their meals until full and to consume food when hungry.
The second group of subjects was prescribed a reduced-fat diet, which is the current recommendation for weight loss and diabetes prevention. The emphasis in the reduced-fat diet was to decrease consumption of fat and increase the intake of grains, vegetables and fruits.
Calories were restricted on this diet—approximately 250 to 500 fewer calories depending on body weight. The subjects on the reduced-fat diet were instructed to consume 55 to 60% of their total daily calories from carbohydrates, 25 to 30% from fat and the remainder from protein.
The results of this preliminary study found that subjects in the reduced glycemic load diet group significantly reduced their BMI (body mass index) and fat mass compared to those on the reduced-fat diet. In addition, those on the glycemic load diet tended to show more insulin control.
In a nutshell
Foods that are ranked lower on the glycemic index and glycemic load, such as fruits, non-starchy vegetables, nuts and dairy products, appear to promote weight loss and better insulin control.
Caloric restriction does not appear to work in the adolescent population. In fact, the lack of caloric restriction was found to be a more positive approach for teenagers as it feels less like a “diet”.
Grainy foods (i.e. breads, pastas) promote weight gain by promoting excess secretion of insulin. In short, excess insulin=excess fat.
The right type of fat, such as that found in nuts, seeds, olive oil and cold-water fish, is necessary for weight loss.

Keep Your Facebook Brand Page Free of Fees
Posted by Chad Pitt
There are two ways that could improve your Weekly Total Reach numbers without spending a dime.
And in the spirit of a social egalitarianism, both involve a trusted bond with your fans.
1.) Have your fans add you to their Interests
Ask that your fans click on the gear located on the top right hand side of your brand’s page, and then click on ‘Add to Interests List.’ Once a brand page has been added to your Interests, there’s no need to actually create an Interest list, unless, of course, you’d like to create one.
2.) Ask your fans to receive notifications from your page
This is still in beta (not yet available for all users), but there is now the option to receive red pop-up notifications from any of your favorite fan pages– hover your mouse over the ‘Liked’ button and click on ‘Get Notifications.’ Fans can always opt out of getting notification flags, although this is probably not an option for any fair-weathered fans.

Do You TRUST Your Mentor???

Do You TRUST Your Mentor???
First of all a mentor is...
men-tor - A wise and trusted counselor or teacher.
Second of all trust is...
trust - Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.
With that cleared up...
People who give trust, CAN be trusted. People who do not trust others are NOT trust worthy.

Posted by Chad Pitt
Pinterest is here. And despite what many of you may think, it’s about more than pretty pictures. Pinterest is growing up, and it’s open for business.
Answer me this:
- If you’re wondering if marketing on Pinterest is worth the time…
- If you want cold, hard stats so that you know where to focus your social media efforts…
- If you want to sound like a Pinterest Marketing Nerdstar…
Then stop looking.
Here is the most current data about the state of Pinterest and how marketers are using it to grow their businesses, in the form of 20 pinteresting marketing stats:
1. Pinterest traffic has doubled since May 2012
Making it the 4th largest source of traffic after Google, direct traffic, and Facebook. (source: Shareaholic) Add Pinterest to the top social media sites that you should continually monitor and update. I love the one by Bonobos.
2. 25% of Fortune Global 100 companies have Pinterest accounts
(Source: Burson-Marsteller) Relatively low compared to YouTube and Facebook, but when you consider the age of Pinterest (2.5 years), it’s actually quite impressive and is a number that should continue to climb.
3. Pinterest users are 79% women
(Source: Pingdom) If your target market is primarily female then Pinterest is definitely for you. However, the number is starting to balance out across the sexes, with the female user base being 92% not long ago.
4. Zappos users are 13x more likely to share a purchase on Pinterest than on Twitter
(Source: Bloomberg) Consider adding the “Pin It” buttons to your website to get your users working for you and increase your viral coefficient.
5. Pinterest’s share of all site visits in North America increased 5,124% between July 2011 and July 2012.
(Source: Experian) Remember the early days of Facebook and Twitter? Use this opportunity to get an early start on your competitors by leveraging Pinterest as soon as possible. The time for innovative business practices on Pinterest is now.
6. 40% of the Interbrand Top 100 Brands are on Instagram, vs 51% on Pinterest and 64% on Google+
(Source: Simply Measured) Don’t be surprised if Pinterest passes Google+ in 2013.
7. 57% of Pinterest users interact with food-related content, the #1 category of content
(Source: Compete) Companies in the food industry should post pictures often to their Pinterest boards. And include a link back to their website in the description of the pinned photo. Adding a call-to-action to your photos will help your content pay off.
8. Pinterest buyers spend more money, more often, and on more items than any of the other top 5 social media sites
(Source: comScore) We live in a visual world. Inspiring customers with photos and video will do wonders for your bottom line. By the way if you need professional photos or video, check out SmartShoot.
9. U.S. consumers who use Pinterest follow an average of 9.3 retail companies on the site
(Source: Shop.org) Compared to 6.9 retailers on Facebook and 8.5 on Twitter. Sounds like an early WINterest to me.
10. Pinterest pins which include prices receive 36% more likes than those which do not
(Source: Shopify) Pinterest is now the 3rd most popular social network site in the world, and retailers can leverage its popularity to significantly increase traffic and sales.
11. Pinterest accounts for 17% of social media driven revenue on Shopify, up from 1% in 2011
(Source: Shopify) Need some inspiration on how to structure your Pinterest account? Check out how Shopify does it – they even have a Chuck Norris board.
12. Customers referred to Shopify by Pinterest are 10% more likely to make a purchase than those from other social media sites
(Source: Shopify) Couple this with the Zappos stat earlier and you have more proof that Pinterest drives real sales.
13. The average order on Shopify by customers referred by Pinterest is $80, compared to $40 for Facebook
(Source: Shopify) Sorry for all the Shopify stats, but I think they are interesting. It’s worth pointing out that Shopify reports that customers spend more and are more likely to purchase on Pinterest than any other social media site.
14. Pinterest generates over 4x as much revenue per click (attributable to first touch) as Twitter and 27% more revenue per click than Facebook
(Source: VentureBeat) It’s becoming clear that Pinterest is for sales, Twitter is for news and Facebook is for friends.
15. 81% of U.S. online consumers trust information and advice from Pinterest
(source: BlogHer) This is likely attributed to the strong community that Pinterest has built.
16. Pinterest is now the 3rd most popular social networking site behind Facebook and Twitter
(source: Experian) Retailers should focus more of their energy on Pinterest than Twitter and Google+.
17. Pinterest drives more referral traffic than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn combined
(source: Shareaholic) Copyblogger has a great post analyzing Pinterest traffic.
18. 47% of U.S. online consumers have made a purchase based on recommendations from Pinterest
(source: BlogHer) Encourage customers to share after their purchase when they are most likely to do it.
19. 78% increase in social sharing and 218% increase in social traffic after Indigo launched Pinterest sharing tools
(source: VentureBeat) Tip: It’s time to remove Digg and add Pinterest to the social share buttons on your site.
20. Moms are 61% more likely to visit Pinterest than the average American
(source: Nielsen) Retailers such as Babies R Us, Wittlebee, and Gilt are great examples of boards that target the mommy demographic.

What to do if your Candidate Lost………
Posted by Chad Pitt
What to do if your Candidate Lost

Whether you agree with the electoral votes or not, the election is over and now it’s time to move on. Here are some suggestions for you if your candidate lost.
Mentally Moving On…
1. Stop crying. There’s nothing you can do about it. I heard many people say they were going to become ex-pats and move to Panama, Costa Rica, or the new city being built in Honduras but I doubt many will. That being said, stop crying about it, there’s nothing you can do to change the election so deal with it.
2. Focus on you. Good president, bad president, it is all gonna come down to YOU and how you continue to grow. Work harder and smarter and do the daily method of operation that will create wealth and abundance for you. If you spend your days complaining about things outside of your control, well, you will be like the mass mediocre and sit around wishing for things to be better when you can better utilize your time by becoming better. Read books, attend events, get smarter in this economy and you can still have a great life in this country. Just because your candidate lost doesn’t mean “you are screwed” as I saw some publicly announce on Facebook. YOU control your destiny, not someone in the white house.

Top 10 Ways To Increase Your Influence
Posted by Chad Pitt
If you are going to grow your business, one of the primary things you will have to do is to increase your influence. Influence is the ability to change other people’s thoughts, beliefs, and actions, and if you are going to bring in other business builders and grow your organization, you will need to do just that.
Attraction is the key to influencing others. When we are transformed into people who others want to follow, it makes influencing easier. The key thought is that it isn’t what you do to yourself. What you can do is important but who are is all important.
So, what are the top 10 ways we can transform ourselves into attraction influencers? Glad you asked! Here they are. Work on these and you will find yourself gaining more and more influence in the lives of others.
#1. Maintain impeccable character make your character one that others know and trust.
Ultimately the relationship between leader and follower or seller and buyer is one of trust. Being a person of integrity whose word is the bond is the key aspect of being attractive to others and gaining influence. If they don’t trust you, they won’t follow you.
#2. Strive for excellence. In everything you do, make sure you are a person of excellence.
Have you done a self-evaluation lately? Are your striving for excellence in every area of your life? Or have you settled for mediocrity, average, or status-quo? People are attracted to excellence. That’s why advertisers pay millions of dollars to champion athletes to sell us goods – because we are influenced by their excellence.
#3. Help others in all that you do. Make sure that you are a win-win person who does things so that everybody can enjoy the fruits of the victory.
The Great Zig Ziglar, has said “You can have everything you want in life, if you will just help enough other people get what they want out of life.” When we give ourselves sacrificially to others, they respond by allowing us to have influence in their lives.
#4. Be Successful at what you do. Success is the ultimate influencer.
We are attracted to successful people. Successful people have influence in the lives of others. So, if you want to have influence at another level, the best thing you can do is succeed right where you are – and that will give you the chance to go further.
#5. Speak well
Speaking is a powerful tool of influence. Speak well and you will attract others to follow you. Learning to speak better is one of the best ways you can improve yourself.
#6. Don’t give up.
Don’t quit at average. Go further than anyone else. I am convinced that people who succeed are simply the people who continue on when others quit.
Have you ever noticed how so many successful people have amazing stories of persistence in the face of obstacles and adversity?
#7. Be known as the “go to” person
Develop the reputation that you can and will get the job done. People respect and admire others who get the job done. Take on tasks that others don’t want and finish tasks that others give up on.
#8. Be generous
Give to others. Help others. Let others succeed, make money, and gain recognition. Being generous will help you make a heart connection with others and they will give you the opportunity to speak into their lives and give direction.
#9. Be Interesting.
People are attracted to people who are interesting. One way to become interesting is to be well-read. I read all sorts of books and magazines so that I can speak to all kinds of people. You should too. When we are well-read and up to date on what is going on in the world, we will never be left out of a conversation. If we add value through the conversation, people will be influenced.
#10. Be Interested
Even more important than being interesting is being interested in the people you are working with. Let people know that you care about them and are interested in their lives. Consider their interests more important than your own. As you do, you will see yourself being recognized more and more as a leader and an influencer.

How Well Do You Connect with People?
Posted by Chad Pitt
People Like People Like Themselves:
“There’s something about you that I like about me.” We gravitate to people who are like us because it’s comfortable and familiar. We also stay away from people who have qualities we don’t like – sometimes even ones that we don’t like about ourselves.
Have you ever had an instant like or dislike to someone who you’ve just met? It’s likely that the person has resonated with either something inside you that you like very much, or don’t like at all. It’s very much an instinctual and unconscious process – we don’t give it much thought at all.
Conscious Communication:
What if you could learn the skills necessary to make connections naturally and effortlessly? It’s possible – with practice and useful repetition of some key basics, you’ll be attracting people, relationships and situations that will improve your life.
First Impressions - you never get a second chance to make a first impression. It may surprise you to know that you have only about 90 seconds to make that first impression. Know that this is the door of future possibilities and make the most of it.
Eye Contact - people feel you have nothing to hide when you can look them in the eye. Maintain eye contact during a conversation and don’t’ let your eyes wander around the room – it only makes the other person feel they’re not important to you.
Posture & Body Language - this says more about what you’re saying than your actual words. If you say you’re happy and excited but your posture is slumped, it’s not congruent with what you’re saying. However, if you say you’re happy and your posture is strong, you’ll come across as genuinely happy.
If you’re standing with your arms crossed or faced away from the person you’re talking to, you may seem angry, defensive or “closed” off from them. Consider facing the person you’re talking with in a relaxed (not slouched) posture – you’ll come across as open and warm.
Facial Expressions - this goes hand in hand with posture and body language. We rarely notice how expressive our faces are, and how easily people can read what we really mean. Fear, excitement, concern, happiness, surprise…they all show on our face. Think about the last time someone told you they weren’t angry at you but their face told another story. Which one did you believe – their words or their facial expression?
Tone - how you say something is as important as what you say. Try this – say the following phrase “It’s late” with these emotions…anger, boredom and surprise. Notice how the meaning changes with the tone you put into the words. It’s the same with other words that you say.
Interrupting - this is about the rudest thing that we can do to someone, whether in person or over the phone. We all do it, and we should all do less of it. When we interrupt the person talking to us, we’re saying that what they have to say isn’t important to us - they’re not important. Remember the last time you were interrupted. How did it make you feel? Are you open to developing a connection with that person?
Honesty - our bodies don’t lie and we shouldn’t either. When we lie, our body will react proportionately to the size of the lie. We sweat, our posture becomes somewhat slouched, our eyes will make slight shifts as we tell the lie and our eyebrows may slightly arch. There’s energy to the words we say and others will instinctual pick up on it. The best policy is to avoid it.
When it comes down to it, life is about the connections we have with other people. The quality of your life will be in direct proportion to the quality of your relationships. People who connect live longer, are happier, and enjoy more personal growth than those that don’t. Improving your connections with people is your ticket to improving your life.

Habits of Success
Posted by Chad Pitt
Unlocking Success
As I started reading personal development books and studying successful people I have noticed some commonalities such as: Success is not held only for a select group or a certain type of person, basically anyone can become successful in any area they desire when they direct their focus on the right things and do these things in a certain way.
Almost every success book or successful person I have read or studied all talk about mind set and how you think and another commonality or distinction is that successful people do little things over and over again until the compound effect kicks in.
They have a bunch of success habits that they do on a consistent and persistent basis that are usually very subtle but make a massive difference in their lives.
Successful Habits
It doesn’t matter if you want to improve your health, lose weight, earn more money, have better relationships, get more traffic to your website, or anything else you desire if you study the people who are successful in these areas or already have the result you desire you will find that they all do certain yet often very subtle actions on a consistent basis.
These actions and habits are very subtle because these habits won’t make your successful over night, just the same by not doing them won’t make you a failure over night. This is why many people simply over look them or dismisses them.
Think for a moment that there are two people, one doing the small success actions perhaps like reading 10 pages of the good book every day, or meditating for 30 minutes every day, or visualising their ideal end results for 15 minutes every day, which are all easy to do.
For a while it may seem like there no differences between these two people, and it would be easy to say or think that it is not making any difference, so why take the consistent action or make it easy to dismiss it and say that it doesn’t work.
Yet over time the difference between these two people in 1, 5, 10, 20 years time their lives would be on completely different paths.
It is the little things that make the big difference
Writing down what you are grateful for every day, visualize on your end results every day and write down your goals or ideal day every day, among other things.
Again success and failure rarely if ever happen overnight it takes time.
Make sure to leave a comment and tell me what success habits you are going to commit to or have been doing that have brought you great results in your life.
